ATHENS, May 10: Greek athlete Maria Tsirba tested positive for the stimulant ephedrine at the 2003 world indoor athletics championships in Birmingham, England, the Greek athletics federation said on Friday.

Tsirba, who was eighth in the 3,000 meters final, breaking the Greek record in the process, failed tests on March 12 and 15.

Third in the European Cup last year, Tsirba faces a two-year suspension and being stripped of her national record.—APP
