FAISALABAD, May 10: The Asian Development Bank has provided $300 million for making the local government system more efficient.
This was revealed at a workshop organized by local government Director (Lahore) Iftikhar Ali Toor at the tehsil municipal authority’s committee room on Saturday.
Mr Toor said maximum facilities would be made available to the local government organizations at district and tehsil levels. He informed the participants that the government had prepared a three-year development programme for which all the DCOs and TMOs had been made ‘focal persons.’ The programme would start from July 1 this year, he added.
ADB consultant Naveed Alauddin said on the occasion that the Pakistani government had been working on ‘Decentralization Support Programme’ in all the provinces. Under this plan, powers were being entrusted at grassroots, he said.
WHEAT: Two more wheat procurement centres have been established at Dajkot grain market and Sir Shameer Road, Theekriwala.
This was stated by deputy director food Rana Saeed here on Saturday.
He said more than 170,000 tons of wheat had been purchased so far from 35 procurement centres of Jhang and Toba Tek Singh districts. A total number of 2,888,763 bags had been distributed among growers till date, he said.
INJURED: A boy was shot and injured allegedly by his stepbrother on the Faisalabad-Jaranwala Road here on Friday night.
Reports said Ibrar Husain Shah took control of the Imam Jalvi Darbar after the death of his father. On Friday night, his stepbrother, Shah Sawar, tried to occupy a room of the shrine which resulted in a clash between them.
Ibrar opened fire on Shah Sawar, injuring him seriously. The injured was removed to the Allied Hospital.
NAZIM’S ORDER: District Nazim Chaudhry Zahid Nazir has ordered that no tenant will remove this season’s Rabi crops from the thrashing floor within the revenue limits of the Faisalabad district without paying share to the land owner, allottee or his authorized agent and obtaining a proper receipt from him, it was learnt on Saturday.
