BADIN, May 10: Parents of a 10-year-old girl, Benazir Jarwar, on Saturday observed a token hunger strike outside the local press club to protest against a local landlord, Roshan Khoso, and his friends, Dur Mohammad Khoso, Ghulam Rasool Jarwar and Jumo, accusing them of kidnapping their daughter.

Abdullah, father of the girl, said that he worked as a servant for Dur Mohammad Khoso.

His daughter, he said, had been kidnapped by Dur Mohammad some months ago on the instigation of landlord Roshan Khoso. He was certain that his daughter had been sold off to one Raja Khoso.

They said that no action had been taken by the local administration and the police despite having made several attempts to approach them.

He accused officials of the Tando Ghulam Ali police station of not entertaining his request for registration of a complaint in this regard. Instead, he said, he and his family were being harassed by the police for doing so.

Both the father and the mother of the kidnapped girl threatened that they would commit self-immolation on Monday if their daughter was not recovered and a criminal case was not registered against the accused by Sunday.

They ended their protest after Badin TPO Khuda Dino Khaskheli assured them regarding registration of an FIR within the next two days.
