KARACHI, May 23: A suspected militant was shot dead and another person was wounded in a Thursday night gun attack in Qasba Colony, police said.

Mohammad Ishaq alias Kohati and Noor Zarin were gunned down in a rickshaw by two masked gunmen riding a motorcycle, said the officials of the Pirabad police station.

The shooting was carried out after the suspected militant along with the other person had tea at a roadside restaurant, Chaghi Hotel, the police said.

They added that both were rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where doctors pronounced Ishaq dead while Zarin was admitted for treatment.

Pirabad SHO Abdul Moid said that Kohati was a commander of the Taliban who had taken part in ‘Afghan Jihad’ twice. He had also remained associated with the merchant navy, he added.

The police officer said that Zarin was involved in drugs.
