VIP movements

Published May 22, 2013

I WOULD like to draw the attention of the authorities concerned towards VIP movements in Karachi which cause a lot of problems for the people.

These movements are so frequent that they create numerous hardships for the citizens of Karachi.

Traffic comes to a halt and motorists cannot move freely.

People heading for their offices or students for their educational institutions all get stuck.

The same holds true for people who want to go to a hospital or attend a funeral.

Patients fight for survival inside ambulances -- all thanks to VIP movements. You often miss a book exhibition or arrive late at a wedding ceremony due to the same reason.

The VIP movement of the president, prime minister or any other high official is not properly announced in newspapers or on the electronic media. Therefore, citizens become unsuspecting preys to these.

The law-enforcement agencies never provide an alternative route to the people.

Hours pass by at a snail’s pace while people remain stuck on roads and streets.

People reach their destinations late as a result of this.

Sometimes it becomes a matter of life and death for them.

Many crimes also take place while people are stuck on roads in their vehicles due to these VIP movements.

I hope that the authorities concerned would do something about it on an urgent basis.

Clearly, something has changed since for this step to have been taken and there are shifts in the balance of power within.
