ISLAMABAD, May 9: Pakistan would still want to stage the SAF Games, president Gen Pervez Musharraf said on Friday.

“Yes we can explore the possibility of hosting them,” he told journalists at the Islamabad Club.

The 9th SAF Games that were to be held in Islamabad between March 29 and April 7, had to be cancelled following three postponements, the last one because of the US-led war in Iraq.

Earlier this week, Prime Minister Zafarullah Jamali had also stated that Pakistan would hold the Games “as soon as possible.”

The executive committee of the South Asian Sports Federation (SASF) that decides on who hosts the Games when, had last month awarded the Games to Sri Lanka, the dates of which have not yet been finalised.
