KARACHI, May 9: Allana earned the right to represent Pakistan in Bridge Federation of Asian and Middle East (BFAME) being held in Amman (Jordan) from Aug 1-10, Pakistan Bridge Federation (PBF) announced here on Friday.

Allana earned the right after winning the national bridge trials held in Lahore.

The team was named by PBF President Rehana Saigol, who herself will be playing in the championship being part of the ladies team.

She described the team as blend of youth and experience.

Packed with international Allana squad comprised Jan-e-Alam Fazli, Abul Rehman Allana, Sultan Siddiqui, Rashid Jaffer, Sarfraz Khan and Tehsin Gheewala.

If Allana wins the BFAME or finished runners-up they will automatically qualified to compete in the Bermuda Bowl schedule to be held in Monte Carlo (France) in November, she said.

Among the women, Horizon qualified to represent the country in the BFAME.

Ladies team consist of Samia Rasheed-Rehana Saigol, Zeenat Azwer- Qudsia Doosa, Rubina Agha-Roshan Bukhari.

According to rules of the championship, two pairs are allowed to compete at a time while third pair rest.

Bhurgari, Mazhar win

Meanwhile, A. K. Bhurgari and Mazhar Ali Khan won the Super Bowl-XV Pair contest with 65.59%, staged to honour of former cief of Pakistan Bridge Federation (PBF) Kharshid Hadi at Aslam Memorial Bridge Hall, says a press release of PBF issued on Friday.

Right from the first round till half way mark, Bhurgari- Mazhar led the bunch of East-West players by 75% score.

Towards the close when other pairs adopted aggression to recover lapses, they could only reduce their percentage. However Bhurgari and Mazhar won the championship from the East-West direction with a score of 65.59%.

Maqbool and Dr. Hasan once again forced their identity, competing from East-West direction. They have given tough time to more senior pairs getting tops and average plus scores. They occupied second berth with a score of 61.1%.

Veteran pair of Chaudhry Sharif and Asghar Naqvi missed the remunerative berth by a very small margin matting 60.85% score. International Tahir Masud and Riaz Mahmood occupied third berth with a score of 58.58%.—APP
