SAHIWAL, May 9: Two persons were killed and as many sustained seriously injuries on Friday in a collision between a truck and an oil tanker on the GT Road near Harappa Bypass.

The oil tanker (JP-6974) was coming to Sahiwal from Multan when the oncoming truck at high speed crashed into it. Consequently, drivers of both the vehicles — Jamal Din and Rafaqat Ali — died instantly while cleaners Qasim and Baali suffered critical injuries.

Meanwhile, an AC bus (BSA-086) knocked down and killed a man outside the Lorry Adda. Muhammad Baqar died on the spot.

Harappa and Grain Market police have registered cases.

PATWARI HELD: The Anti-Corruption Establishment arrested a revenue patwari after the cancellation of his bail here on Friday.

The ACE also managed to get his four-day physical remand.

Muhammad Ali of Jahana Saghla had collected transfer fee of Rs38,000 from a farmer, but he did not deposit the amount in the treasury. The ACE got registered a case against him, but he managed his pre-arrest bail.

DEPRIVED: Two armed robbers on Thursday evening deprived a shopkeeper of his motorcycle and cash near Chak 76/5-R.

Muhammad Younas was going to Chak 76/5-R when armed robbers snatched from him two-wheeler and cash and escaped.

Noorshah police have registered a case and are investigating.
