HYDERABAD, May 14: Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Hyderabad has declared 22 of the 120 examination centres sensitive in nine districts of Sindh where the board will hold Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) Part-I and II (Class-XI and XII) annual examinations 2013 from May 16 to 31.

Talking to Dawn on Tuesday, BISE Chairman Prof Abdul Aleem Khanzada said: “The examination centres declared sensitive consist of 10 in Hyderabad, one in Tando Mohammad Khan, two in Dadu, four in Thatta, one in Badin and four in Shaheed Benazirabad.”

The chairman said he had informed the divisional commissioner of Hyderabad, deputy commissioners of districts and additional DIG police about the sensitive centres and they had ensured foolproof security to all centres and more deployment at sensitive ones.

Prof Khanzada said the government had already imposed Section 144 which would be effective within limits of examination centres to curb illegal activities and maintain the law and order by police. Photostat machines will not be allowed to run during examinations in the vicinity of the centres.

He said BISE had made all arrangements to hold the examinations in nine districts, including Hyderabad, Badin, Matiari, Shaheed Benazirabad, Jamshoro, Dadu, Tando Mohammad Khan, Tando Allahyar and Thatta.

He said total 85,809 candidates of Class-XI and XII, including boys and girls, would appear in the examinations. The examinations will be organised in two shifts, morning and evening.

He said 260 internal and external superintendents had been appointed to conduct papers. He said 22 vigilance teams had been formed to monitor, supervise and visit all centres during examinations and make them transparent.

The 22 vigilance teams entail around 130 members being led by BISE chairman, secretary, the controller of examination, senior professors and subject specialists.

He said that a monitoring cell had also been set up in the board with a view to developing the coordinated approach to all 120 centres and addressing problems being faced by the centres.

If any candidate was found cheating or went out of the centre during exam hours or was caught trying to impersonate any candidate, a strict action would be taken immediately.

He said mobile phone sets or electronic devices would not be allowed in the centres.

Divisional Commissioner of Hyderabad Dr Riaz Ahmed Memon has directed all deputy commissioners (DCs) and BISE administration to ensure all arrangements to make HSC Part-I and II annual examinations transparent.
