LAHORE, May 8: Another probe has been initiated into the alleged clash between a Punjab minister and police.

Punjab Tourism Minister Mian Aslam Iqbal and his elder brother Mian Ashraf, alias Billu, had a clash with police a few days ago at the Millat Park police station.

The new probe is being conducted by the Punjab police investigation wing headed by SSP Dr Arif Mushtaq. It is being reportedly conducted under directives from Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi.

The new inquiry officer has recorded statements of both parties and further progress is under way.

A police source says it has been revealed during the probe that there has some cases against the minister’s brother. Their details have also been gathered by the new inquiry officer.

The earlier inquiry conducted by Sadar division police SP Raja Riffat has reportedly held the minister’s brother and his men responsible for interfering with the official working. It has also held them responsible for beating up policemen and tearing the uniform of an official. It has, on the other hand, absolved the police of all charges levelled against them by the minister and his men. However, the SP is not ready to say anything on the findings. It has already been submitted to the Punjab police investigation wing.
