KARACHI, May 8: Forty-one graduates were awarded nursing diplomas at the fifth lamplighting and third graduation ceremony of School of Nursing at the Islamic Mission Hospital here on Thursday.

Nursing students took part in the lamplighting ceremony which was supposed to have been attended by the governor of Sindh, Ishratul Ibad. He, however, could not show up and sent his representative, local bodies minister Mohammad Hussain.

A spokesman for the School of Nursing of the Islamic Mission Hospitals Trust told Dawn that nurses were awarded degrees on the completion of a three-year course. He added that so far about 500 nurses had graduated from the institute.

The chairman of the School of Nursing, Dr A. Hadi Shahid, presented the annual report and the managing trustee, A. Qayyum Sayyed, read out the welcome address, says a press release issued here on Thursday.
