Four perish on road

SAHIWAL, May 6: Four people were killed while three others injured in various road accidents in the district on Tuesday.

A family was on its way to attend a marriage ceremony in Faisalabad when its car (Karachi-Q-803) overturned near Iqbalnagar bypass on the GT Road. Tajdin and his sister Rozina died on the spot while three children were injured.

On Chichawatni-Burewala Road, a rashly-driven tractor (SLK-3402) knocked down a boy, Ali Akbar. He died instantly.

A young boy was run over by a vehicle, whose driver fled the scene. Relevant police have registered a case.

TUBEWELLS: Water and Power Development Authority will achieve its target of providing 5,000 tubewell connections by the end of the current fiscal year.

According to a Wapda spokesman, as many as 200 connections have been provided in Sahiwal circle while 30 more connections will soon be provided here.

INJURED: A woman labourer was injured by two men at her house on Tuesday.

Reports said the woman was alone when accused Arif and Farooq burst into her house. They beat the woman and dragged her towards market where some people rescued her.

Farid Town police have registered a case with no arrest so far.
