LAHORE, May 6: Two people were shot dead and as many allegedly committed suicide in different parts of the city on Tuesday.
Muhammad Ali allegedly shot dead his brother-in-law Muhammad Hafeez, 35, over a family dispute at Yakki Gate.
Ali had reportedly married a woman two days ago after sending Hafeez’s sister back to her parents. Hafeez has nurtured a grudge against him. Both the relatives exchanged harsh words over the issue.
Ali allegedly opened fire on Hafeez and escaped. Hafeez got serious injuries and died in the Mayo Hospital. He is survived by a wife and two children. His body was sent to the city mortuary for autopsy. A case was registered against the alleged killer with no arrest.
A man allegedly shot dead his neighbour over a money dispute at Said Mitha Bazaar in Tibbi City.
Police said Hamid Mahmood, 25, had a money dispute with Saqlain Abbas. They had quarrelled several times over the issue. They came across at the bazaar on Tuesday and Abbas allegedly opened fire on him and escaped. Hamid suffered serious injuries and died on way to hospital. His body was sent to the city mortuary for autopsy. A case was registered with no arrest.
A jobless man committed suicide in his house at China Scheme in Gujjarpura.
Police said Zafar Iqbal, 50, had no work for several months. He was upset over his failure to get any work to feed his nine-member family.
He took rat-poison and was taken to the Shalamar Hospital where he died. His body was returned to his family without autopsy.
A man, about 25, unidentified so far, committed suicide in North Cantonment.
Quoting eyewitnesses, police said the man threw himself in front of a moving train on the track in the locality and died instantly. His body was removed to the city mortuary for autopsy.
ELECTROCUTED: A labourer was electrocuted in a factory at Daroghawala in Baghbanpura on Tuesday.
Police said Muhammad Fayyaz, 40, was at work when he suffered an electric shock. He received serious burns and was rushed to hospital where he died. He leaves behind a widow and four children. His body was returned to his family without autopsy.— Reporter
