KHAIRPUR, May 6: A group of people, including activists of different NGOs and political parties, took out a procession here on Tuesday to demand jobs for youths at local gas companies.

The procession started from Jadoo Shah and after marching through the Kutchehry Road reached at the National Highway.

The participants staged a sit-in outside the district Nazim office.

They also raised slogans against the management of the OMV Gas Company.

District Nazim Nafisa Shah called leaders of the protesters to her office and hold talks with them.

She assured them that the district government would make efforts to provide jobs to locals at gas companies.

TEACHERS: About 500 teachers, under the aegis of the Mehran Teachers Welfare Association (MTWA), took out a procession here on Tuesday against office-bearers of the Primary Teachers Association (PTA).

The procession started from the Phool Bagh and after marching through the Mall Road and the Kutchehry Road terminated at the Panj Gulla Chowk.

The teachers were carrying banners inscribed with slogans against the PTA office-bearers.

They demanded that action should be taken against the people involved in an attack on Razia Khaskheli, assistant district officer, education, Thari Mirwah.
