KARACHI, May 6: Body of a young man, who was beaten with batons to death, was found near Ahsanabad late on Tuesday night, Edhi sources said.

They said man was identified as Mehrab Khan Afridi and he was around 16 or 17 years. The eyewitnesses told Edhi staff that the youth was beaten by two uniformed persons. However, the witnesses were not sure whether the uniforms were of government departments or of private security agencies.

Edhi sources said the police from the Surjani Town and Gulzar-i-Hijri were in dispute over the jurisdiction and the body was still lying there.

Surjani Town policeman Shamim told Dawn that the body had been found in an empty plot in Gulshan-i-Maimar around midnight.
