HYDERABAD, May 6: Sindh Tarraqi Pasand Party chairman Dr Qadir Magsi has condemned the decision of the federal finance ministry that the NFC Award will be given on the basis of population.

In a statement issued here on Monday, he said it was an injustice with the smaller provinces, especially Sindh.

Mr Magsi, who is also the president of the Pakistan Oppressed Nations Movement, said the smaller provinces had been demanding that the formula for distribution of resources should be changed and had given solid proposals in this regard six months back.

He said the ministry of finance had again thrust the 1997 Award on the smaller provinces. The 1997 Award had become redundant as it had expired in 2000. The last two awards based on the 1997 Award were also unconstitutional, he added.

The STPP chief also criticized the Sindh government for failing to appoint its member for the National Finance Commission.

SWC: Sindh Water Committee (SWC) president Rasool Bux Palejo has termed the Right Bank Outfall Drain project destructive and urged the authorities concerned to remove apprehensions of the affected people before taking a final decision in the matter.

In a statement issued here the other day, Mr Palijo, who is also the chief of the Awami Tehrik, regretted that Sindh was being deprived of its share of water.

A delegation of the Goth Bachayo Committee, led by Mushtaq Ali Shoro and Ali Nawaz Shoro, also called on Mr Palijo.

The delegation told him that if the RBOD project was constructed on the left side of the K B Feeder, filthy water would destroy villages of the area.
