SHEIKHUPURA, May 5: A sum of Rs1.6 million will be distributed among 199 shopkeepers, whose kiosks were burnt at Narang vegetable market about two months ago, according to DCO Muhammad Ayub Qazi.

Presiding over a meeting with district revenue officers, the DCO said Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi had announced the compensatory amount after the incident.

He said Rs10,000 would be given to each shopkeeper, whose kiosk was reduced to ashes while Rs5,000 would be given to each shopkeeper, whose shop was partially burnt.

MPA Ejaz Sehol, EDO (revenue) Maqsood Rabbani and DO (revenue) Malik Masood were prominent among those present on the occasion.

DISTRICT NAZIM: The Asian Development Bank will start various projects of health and education, according to District Nazim Chaudhry Tawakalullah Virk.

The Nazim told this to newsmen after a meeting with an ADB delegation. He said the delegation would visit various remote areas in Sheikhupura and chalk out a development plan.

MEETINGS: The district council will arrange six meetings this month to improve coordination between the local government and public, District Naib Nazim Maj Zahid Yaseen (retired) said on Monday.

The first meeting will be held on May 8.

abducted: A 12-year-old girl was allegedly abducted on Monday by three men with the help of their woman accomplice in Ferozewatwan.

Inayat Bibi came to the house of ‘N’ and took her to a graveyard under the pretext of fateha khwani. The three men already present there bundled the girl into a car and fled.

Bhekhi police have registered a case against Faisal Junaid, Inayat Bibi and others.

Meanwhile, an 11-year-old girl was allegedly abducted and raped by two vagabonds, Kashif and Naveed, in Sarkari Kalan village.

On the complaint of victim’s father, Farooqabad Saddar police have registered a case.
