KARACHI, May 5: Reckless driving claimed two lives in the city on Monday.

An unidentified female beggar died in a road accident on M. A. Jinnah Road.

The police said the beggar, who was in her late 20s, was run over by a speeding bus of route 5-C near Sea Breeze building on M. A. Jinnah Road. She was rushed to Civil Hospital where doctors pronounced her dead on arrival.

The bus driver has been arrested.

A middleaged woman was knocked down by an unknown vehicle in Liaquatabad.

The police said Jehan Ara, aged 40, was run over by an unknown vehicle while walking across the main road near the Dak Khana traffic section.

She died on the spot.

BURNS: A young girl suffered burns in her house in Mohammedi Colony on Monday night.

The police said Noor Bahar, aged 18, suffered serious burns while working in the kitchen of her house. She had been admitted to Civil Hospital.
