KARACHI, May 5: The Federal Minister for Information Technology, Awais Ahmed Leghari, said that with the introduction of PTCL-FLAG (Fiber Link Around the Globe), Virtual Point Of Presence (VPOP), the Internet Service Providers would get more than one option for their systems.

Speaking at the formal inauguration of the PTCL-FLAG VPOP here on Monday he said that completion of Sub-marine cable system, will boost the ISPs and IT in the country.

He said that the arrangement provides one window facility for the provision of International Private Leased Circuit (IPLC) to Europe, America and the Far East.

The minister said that the PTCL was directed to further improve its system to meet the growing demand of the IT operators.

He further assured the customers and the ISPs that their demand of more bandwidth would be met.

The main beneficiaries of these services will be ISPs, software exporters, Data Network Operators (DNOPS) and call centre operators, which require multiple data links and high-speed transfers and clear pipe.

The customers can benefit from the entire international network infrastructure, including trans-oceanic cable system and landing stations.

The network is purpose built, which makes service reliable, manageable and highly scalable.

Customers can also access IP transit service from Karachi PoP.

Access can be arranged via local or national leased line from a customer router to Karachi gateway. The PTCL and Flag Telecom continuously monitor the system.—APP
