LAHORE, May 4: The Punjab government has decided to prepare a state land directory in two months to reclaim the land from its illegal occupants and utilize it for welfare-oriented schemes.

This was stated by Colonies Minister Mian Manazar Ali Ranjha while presiding over a meeting of the EDOs (Revenue) here on Sunday.

He directed all participating officers to compile record of the state land at tehsil and district level and complete the directory within the stipulated time.

The minister said after the completion of the directory, the land record would be computerized. Those occupying state land would be allowed to purchase it on the market rate.

He said the available state land would be utilized for public welfare schemes besides its distribution among landless tillers. In big cities, housing schemes would be introduced on such lands.

The minister also constituted different committees to monitor data collection of the land and preparation of the directory at tehsil and district level.
