Kidnapped boy recovered

GUJRANWALA, May 4: A minor boy kidnapped by a vagabond for ransom from Gujjar Kot, Gakkhar Town, some two weeks ago was recovered by police on Sunday.

Reports said four-year old Sadam Husain was playing in the street when Arif kidnapped him and took him away to Bhalwal, Sargodha. He demanded a ransom of Rs500,000 for his release.

On a tip off that the accused was present at Bhalwal lorry adda, the Gakkhar police conducted a raid and recovered the child. The accused, however, managed to escape.

The child was handed over to the family.

FOUR KILLED: Four people, including a minor girl, were killed while two dozen others injured in separate road accidents in and around the city on Sunday.

Minor Sapna was playing in front of her house in Madina Colony when a speeding pick-up crushed her. She died on the spot.

Allah Rakha was killed and 24 others injured when a Lahore-bound bus rammed into a roadside tree near Eminabad Mor while saving a cyclist. The injured were taken to the DHQ Hospital.

Elderly Bashir of Badoki Gosayan, Gakkhar Town, was knocked down by a truck on the GT Road while crossing a road.

A motorcyclist, Ashfaq, was hit and killed by a bus in Rahwali.
