LAHORE, Oct 12 Blue Flame, a three-year-old blue-roan colt, looks set to lift the UK Cup at the Lahore Gymkhana Meeting on Wednesday.

Contesting in the fifth race, in a field of ten runners, the unknown pedigree colt is still a maiden after six outings and is tracking well awaiting owner's nod to deliver.

Interestingly his nine opponents too are yet to register a victory.

Brave Zoia and Sun Classic are the other two runners, who have appeared on the board and are capable of putting up challenge to Blue Flame to make his task somewhat difficult but not unachievable.

This will be the class VII's lowest division IV-B handicap race to be gone over 800 metres, in a card of six competitive events.

The cup has been instituted to encourage unknown pedigree horses swarming the Lahore Racecourse and exceeding in numerical strength of the field on almost every race day.

With a respectable turn out in each race consisting of at least four to five chance horses it would be a challenge for the punters to pick up winners out of a total 60 acceptors in six races, barring last-minute withdrawals.

The major thrust is of the horses, showing inconsistency in performance, which is a usual phenomenon in most of the gymkhana races.

There are seven horses in the fourth race, the Chakwal Plate class VI division III and IV combined handicap.

Majority horses have chance, which is the beauty of this race, and if all are tried it would be difficult to pick winner, even in this small field.

However, on recent form and current performance, Jal Thal and Aya Jogi, and on old form and classification Racing Legend are the pick.

A good and sensible ride can lead any of the three to victory.

Racing Legend looks the best on classification.

Punjabi Sultan, a six-year-old dark-bay gelding, is the pick to have the better of his ten opponents in the second race, the Talagang Plate class VII division III-A.

He was beaten on his previous outing and should make amends this time and win the race by living up to his name.

His closest opponents could be Kitten and Pehchan.

The first four races will be gone over the sprinting distance of 1,000 metres each and the remaining two over 800 metres each.

The first race will be held at 1.30pm.
