FAISALABAD: Chairman of the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) Sahibzada Fazal Karim passed away on Monday, DawnNews reported.

The 58-year-old was undergoing treatment for a liver ailment at a hospital in Faisalabad.

Born in 1954 Sahibzada Haji Muhammad Fazal Karim was a senior and vocal member of the SIC.

The SIC chief had denounced suicide bombings as un-islamic and had condemned the attack on the grandest shrine of Lahore, the “Data Darbar”, and the attack on Malala Yousifzai demanding a crackdown against terrorists.

He began his political career with the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N) and was elected as a Member of National Assembly from Faisalabad under the party ticket. He was later associated with the Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (JUP).

His funeral prayers would be offered at 10 am tomorrow.
