KARACHI: Chief of Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) Pir Pagara has said that he was against any extension in caretaker government setup and stressed the coming general elections should be held on time as per the Constitution.
He expressed these views while addressing a joint press conference with central leader of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Saturday.
Both the leaders discussed political situation and matters related to the general election in the country.
Pir Pagara said the PML-F is a pro-federation party and has engaged all political forces which believed in the federation.
The PML-F chief was critical of some of the Returning Officers who were asking impertinent questions from the electoral candidates.
Shah Memood Qureshi, speaking on the occasion, said that there is no logic to delay elections and termed the timely election the need of hour.
It will be a contest between what he termed the 'opportunists politicians' and those who really wanted to serve the nation.
Meanwhile, rubbishing speculation regarding alleged plans of contesting elections in Sindh as an independent candidate, Qureshi told Dawn.Com, “I am an elected vice chairman from PTI, and I would never contest elections independently.”
