LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is yet to decide whether to remove PCB’s women wing chairperson Bushra Aitzaz, since she has filed her nomination papers to contest elections for a National Assembly seat from Lahore.

In case of wining, Bushra will have to quit her post since the PCB constitution does not allow any of its official or even office-bearer of regional or district bodies to be a member of the national or provincial assembly.

Late Dr Mohammad Ali Shah had to give up chairmanship of the Karachi City Cricket Association (KCCA) under the same rule as he had also been elected as MPA.

Likewise, late president of the Lahore City Cricket Association (LCCA) Aamir Hayat Rokhri was not allowed to contest elections of the LCCA some three years back as he was also an MPA at that time.

However, he moved the honourable court and got a stay order due to which he contested the elections. Any court decision in this regard is yet to be given.

When contacted, a PCB spokesman, however, told Dawn that the PCB would only follow its constitution in Bushra’s case.
