RAWALPINDI, Jan 23: As part of security measures Eid Miladun Nabi, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Saqib Zafar on Wednesday banned pillion riding and carrying arms and ammunition for next two days.

The pillion riding ban does not apply on the elderly, women, children and patients.

The CDGR has asked local police to make elaborate security arrangements for the Milad procession to avoid any untoward incident.

DCO Saqib Zafar told Dawn that the CDGR had banned witnessing the Milad procession from the rooftops of the building falling on the traditional route and in this regard they would take undertakings from the owners of the buildings.

He directed the traffic and city police not to allow heavy traffic on the Eid Miladun Nabi route.

He said they put the three government run hospitals on red alert on Eid Miladun Nabi and deputed doctors and paramedical staff to deal with any emergency. The hospitals have been directed to allocate extra beds in emergency department.

He said a main control room would be established at Additional Collector Office which would coordinate with four relief camps at Committee Chowk, Fawara Chowk, Shah Nazar Pull and Jamia Masjid Road.

The camps will be manned by the officials of utility services, town administrations, health department and special branch.
