QUETTA, Jan 13: Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has demanded immediate removal of Balochistan government and imposition of governor’s rule in the province.

Mr Khan, who arrived here on Sunday along with PTI leaders Javed Hashmi, Jahangir Tareen, Ishaq Khakwani and Fauzia Kasuri, expressed solidarity with people of the Hazara community who were protesting against terrorist attacks along with coffins of the 80-odd victims.

Soon after his arrival here, Mr Khan went to the Alamdar Road and met the mourners who had staged a sin-in for the past three days.

Addressing the protesters, he said he and his party members were with them in this difficult time and would not abandon them.

Talking to reporters later, he said the Balochistan government had failed to protect the Hazara community and other people. “There is no government in the province,” he said, adding that it had failed to fulfil its responsibility of protecting lives and property.

“The chief minister will have to go,” he said, adding that under the present government one could not expect any betterment and it was pushing the province to the brink of destruction.

Demanding imposition of governor’s rule, he said the governor should call army for help if he felt its need for maintaining law and order.

Mr Khan said terrorist attacks had been taking place unabatedly and the elements involved and their aim must be found out. He said both dialogue and force should be used to deal with the terrorists.

Replying to a question, he said the rulers could not resolve the issues because they were busy making money to use it for wining the next election.

He supported the stance of Dr Tahirul Qadri about the Election Commission of Pakistan. The PTI chief said the situation would deteriorate if fair and transparent election was not held.

The PTI delegation also visited the hunger strike camp of the Hazara Democratic Party.
