KARACHI, Jan 3: Cotton prices in the ready market fell on Thursday amid higher phutti arrivals but trading increased as mills in Punjab province received uninterrupted supply of electricity, brokers said.
Power supply to the textile industry in Punjab resumed for 16 hours a day, as per the orders from Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf. There seemed to be uninterrupted power supply from 5pm until 8am throughout Punjab.
However, Karachi Cotton Association kept its official spot rate unchanged at Rs6,000 per maund and in Sindh, 5,800 bales of cotton were traded at Rs5,400 to Rs6,100. In Punjab, 8,200 bales of cotton were exchanged at Rs5,875 to Rs6,100.
