ISLAMABAD, Dec 29: The Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) on Saturday organised a musical evening in memory of Noorjehan.

A documentary about the life of the melody queen was also shown on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Tauqir Nasir, the PNCA director-general, said Noorjehan was an academy of music and her songs would always remain alive in the memories of people.

“The new generation should be made aware of her, because she was an asset of Pakistan. Noorjehan earned tribute from music director late Ghulam Ahmed and Lata Mangeshkar,” he said.

Former managing director PTV Agha Nasir said no singer can become perfect without singing the songs of Noorjehan.

Renowned singers Saira Naseem and Gulshan Jehan from Faisalabad presented some of the famous songs of Noorjehan.

TV anchor Kanwal Naseer was the moderator of the event.

The 12th death anniversary of Noorjehan was observed on December 23.
