After toiling in the Nagpur sun for a good part of the third day, England fought back with four Indian wickets in the last hour of the final Test to even out proceedings.

England, who are 2-1 up in the four-match series, endured a marathon 507-ball partnership by Mahendra Dhoni and Virat Kohli, who shared a 198-runs.

Kohli eventually fell for 103 while Dhoni was run out on 99 off 246 balls, the under-fire captain playing his longest Test innings in terms of balls faced, beating his previous 187 balls.

All-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and Piyush Chawla were also dismissed as India closed the day 33 runs behind England on 297-8.

James Anderson and Graeme Swann were once again amongst the wickets and took their tally to 4-26 and 3-76 respectively.

Commentating on the match, former England batsman Geoff Boycott said: “Even if India bat well on Sunday, England should get a small lead here. India need to bowl out of their skins - and if they can get England out by lunch on the last day, they might have a sniff. England have shown that they can fold under pressure.”
