SUKKUR, Dec 12: A delegation of 33 Hindu pilgrims arrived in Mirpur Mathelo from Jaipur, India, to participate in the three-day annual fair of Shadani Darbar which started on Wednesday.
The delegation comprises four women, two children and 27 men and is led by Seeta Vert Shadani instead of his brother Yudhishtar Lal Ji who is custodian of the Darbar in Hayat Pitafi taluka.
A large number of Hindu community people accorded a warm welcome to the delegation at the Mirpur Mathelo railway station when they reached this morning by Jaffar Express and brought them to the Darbar in a big procession.
The administration had deployed 100 policemen in and around the shrine and set up 40 pickets along all roads leading to it in order to protect members of the delegation and other Hindu community people.
The delegation will stay in Sindh for 10 days and visit different places of worship and tombs, including Sadhu Bella and others places holy to their religion.
The Shadani Darbar was founded by Shadaram Saheb in Hayat Pitafi in 1786. Born in Lahore in 1708, Shadaram Saheb undertook a long pilgrimage which culminated at Hayat Pitafi in Sindh where he settled and laid the foundation of Shadani Darbar.—BoC
