THIS refers to the letter ‘Eligible army officers’ (Nov 16). It is a healthy sign indeed for democracy that law is taking its course in previously uncharted waters.

Moreover, the role of judiciary is definitely laudable but as a nation we are extremists. We go too far without realising that we are getting out of line. As a patriotic citizen, I will never ever try to demoralise my law-enforcement elements. Why? Because the present state of law and order in the country is due to above mentioned factor. I am not talking about some generals. In this case, the writer unconsciously has hurt the feelings of thousands of families of shaheeds, including hundreds of young second-lieutenants, lieutenants, captains and majors, who have sacrificed their lives in last 10 years.

Such statements come out of ignorance and lack of vision. Presently, more than 100,000 army troops, FC, Rangers, and police personnel are fighting against the menace of terrorism.

Being a Pakistani has the writer ever imagined that how would they take his thoughts and would not it affect their morale and will to fight?
