Karsaz incident ads

Published October 26, 2012

THIS refers to six advertisements about ‘celebrating’ the fifth anniversary of the Karsaz Road tragedy of Oct 18, 2007. All the advertisements had one message — cribbing over culprits not being caught in five years. But I fail to understand a few things here.

Why do government personalities keep complaining over culprits not being caught in five years when except for five months, the advertisers themselves have been ‘the government’? So does cribbing over culprits not being caught mean that these men are ‘celebrating’ their own lack of ruling capabilities?

Why do various ministers — not ministries — advertise separately? Will one advertisement from the Pakistan People’s Party not be enough? Why do you force your readers to laugh at tragedies — the government failing in its responsibilities? You should be doing its reverse — inducing people to cry over government incompetence and rising to resist its repetition.
