KARACHI, Oct 4: Commerce Minister Makhdoom Amin Fahim said here on Thursday that nowhere in the world superior judiciary treated the government the way the Supreme Court of Pakistan was dealing with the government today.

Talking to reporters after inaugurating the 7th Expo Pakistan 2012 at the Expo Centre, the minister severely criticised the apex court.

When asked to comment on the current standoff between the judiciary and executive and its effect on the confidence of foreign investors and buyers he said foreign buyers and investors concentrated on their work and interests because in their countries the courts did not treat the government the way “our Supreme Court is treating the government”.

But, he said, the presence of around 1,000 foreign buyers in the event was highly encouraging.

The Expo Pakistan, he said, had brought together numerous quality buyers from different parts of the world.

They will develop new partnerships and deepen the existing relationship to the benefit of all stakeholders.

The event, Mr Fahim said, would go a long way in attracting foreign direct investment in the country.
