WE, the engineers and officers belonging to various service cadres working in the Pakistan Electric Power Company (Pepco) and its allied distribution and generation companies, draw the attention of Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtiar, federal minister of water and power, towards the inordinate delay in convening the meeting of upgradation board to consider cases of eligible BPS-19 officers for their upgradation to PS-20.

The eligible officers have been waiting for their upgradation for the last one year. It will not be out of place to mention here that meetings of the board were earlier scheduled on many occasions but could not be held for one or the other reason, causing resentment, frustration and unrest among the officers.

Some of the officers, meanwhile, have retired from the service without being granted financial benefits of the next grade without any fault of theirs .

We have been approaching Pepco authorities for holding the upgradation board meeting at the earliest to consider about 300 cases of eligible candidates who fulfil all the requisite conditions according to service rules, but to no avail.

The minister should order the convening of the upgradation board meeting to redress officers grievance.
