Head of gang apprehended

MUZAFFARABAD, Sept 23: The head of a gang, accused of selling drugs in educational institutions, was detained by the city police and heroin worth Rs 1 million was confiscated.

SHO City Police Station Rashid Habib told newsmen that the accused, Shamraiz, was caught red handed on Saturday evening as he returned from Rawalpindi along with the contraband item.

Shamraiz had been on the wanted list for a long time as he and his gang had been addicting the youth in the capital under an organised plan. The SHO added that special teams had been constituted to hunt down other members of the gang.

Responding to a question, the accused confessed to selling heroin to the students adding that he himself had become an addict after failure in his love affairs.—Correspondent

Haj training

ISLAMABAD, Sept 23: Dawah Centre for women, a part of the Dawah Academy, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) is organizing a four day “Haj Training Workshop” for the female hajj pilgrims to provide guidance on Haj rituals and other related matters.

This four-day workshop will continue between 9am to 1pm from September 24 to September 27 at Dawah Centre for Women, New Campus, IIU, Sector H-10, Islamabad. —A Reporter

The following office-bearers were elected unopposed: Dr. Mazhar Masood (patron-in-chief), Haji Mehmood Khan (chairman), Qazi Mohammad Safdar (president), Sardar Farhat Ali Khan (senior vice-president), Farhat Abbas Shah (vice-president), Liaquat Khan Bajori (general secretary), Rafaqat Mehmood Awan (additional general secretary), Dr Ghulam Raza Awan (secretary finance) and Abdul Latif Shah (secretary information).—Correspondent

Raise in pension sought

FATEHJANG, Sept 23: Retired employees of Pakistan Air Force have demanded of the Air Chief Marshal, Tahir Rafique Butt, to effect the raise in pension.

Although an increase of 20 per cent in the pension had been announced on July 1, 2012, the increase had not been executed till date.

The employees urged the air chief marshal to look into the matter and take appropriate actions for the relief of the employees.—Correspondent
