LAHORE, Sept 18: Supreme Court Bar Association’s former president Asma Jahangir has hailed the prime minister for asking the law minister to write a letter to the Swiss government in compliance with the Supreme Court order.

Talking to newsmen on Lahore High Court premises on Tuesday, Ms Jahangir said she had been saying for long that the letter should have been written much earlier.

She said PM’s direction to the law minister to draft a letter and giving time to the government by the apex court was a good omen.

She suggested the SC to allow the political government to complete its constitutional term smoothly so that the next general election could not be delayed.

She said: “I request superior courts to let the government functionaries do their work and do not make them stand in courts for the whole day.”

Ms Jahangir said she had not been contacted so far to become caretaker prime minister.
