Girl commits suicide

CHAKWAL, Sept 13: A young girl committed suicide this Wednesday by hanging herself from a ceiling fan in Dhok Chak Gharkial village in the Talagang tehsil.

The elders of the girl wanted to marry her against her will.

Her parents set a date of engagement in spite of her resistance. Sources attribute the cause of her suicide to this decision. — Correspondent

69 deportees arrive

RAWALPINDI, Sept 13: As many as 69 illegal Pakistani immigrants deported from Greece arrived at Benazir Bhutto International Airport on two separate flights on Thursday, immigration officials said.

The first flight of Qatar Airways (QR-398) with 28 Pakistanis arrived at the airport from Doha.

The deportees were taken into custody by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA)’s immigration staff and after recording their statements they were handed over to the passport cell for further proceeding.

A Turkish Airways flight (TK-710) also came with 41 Pakistani deportees from Istanbul. A senior official of the FIA’s immigration said the Pakistanis had been caught while illegally entering Greece via Turkey and Iran. — Staff Reporter

Traders boycott easy loading

ISLAMABAD, Sept 13: Traders in the Super Market on Thursday announced their decision to boycott two cellular companies’ easy loading service.

President of the traders association, Sarfraz Mughal told a meeting that the cellular companies used to pay them three per cent share on easy loading but recently two of them had reduced the commission to 2.80 per cent.

The meeting decided to boycott easy loading for the two companies and said if the cut in commission was not withdrawn, they would also hold protests against the two firms. — A Reporter

Woman held with heroin

RAWALPINDI, Sept 13: A British woman of Pakistani origin was arrested at Benazir Bhutto International Airport on the charge of trying to smuggle nine kg heroin to the United Kingdom on Thursday, airport sources said.

Ms Y.A, aged between 40 and 45, belonged to Dudial in Azad Kashmir. She was taken into custody when the check-in for a Dubai-bound Emirates flight (EK-615) was in progress. The heroin was concealed in her suitcase, said the sources.

A case was registered against the accused, who was travelling alone, and later she was sent to Adiala Jail by a magistrate for 14 days. — Staff Reporter
