LAHORE, Sept 3: A case was registered on Monday against Model Town Society driver Hasnat Ahmad who climbed a high-tension pylon on Ferozepur Road on Saturday last to protest the management’s decision of demoting him to the security guard.

Model Town SP (Operations) Awais Malik told Dawn Hasnat again threatened to commit self-immolation in front of the society’s office after he appeared there to press for fresh demands. He said the driver was asked to come on Tuesday as the office was closed on Monday, but he insisted that he would not leave the place without obtaining a fresh letter.

The SP said security officials alerted the police who rushed to the spot and took the driver into custody. He said a case under Section 325 (attempt to commit suicide) of the PPC had been registered against Hasnat on behalf of state. — Staff Reporter
