US Open: Day one

Monday 27th August marked the first day of the US Open, with seeds Federer, Clijsters and Azarenka hardly breaking a sweat.

In two hours and fifteen minutes, despite a weaker first serve than in the London games, Murray won his match against Alex Bogomolov Jr. 6-2 6-4 6-1.  Federer dismantled American Donald Young 6-3 6-2 6-4 while Clijsters won her match against Victoria Duval 6-3 6-1. Victoria Azarenka blew past Russia's Alexandra Panova 6-0 6-1 in just 50 minutes, while Maria Sharapova beat Hungary's Melinda Czink 6-2 6-2; defending champion Samantha Stosur easily blitzed Croatia's Petra Martic 6-1 6-1. - Photos by Agencies
