MUZAFFARABAD, Aug 13: Azad Jammu Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majeed has directed his cabinet members and ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders to refrain from statements against political figures so as to maintain the atmosphere of political tolerance and harmony under President Asif Ali Zardari’s policy of reconciliation.

According to an official handout, the prime minister directed his media team to ensure that no disinformation or derogatory statements against legislators or leader of the opposition and other political personalities is issued to the media and point out the violators for disciplinary action.

“Azad Kashmir is the base camp of freedom movement and cannot afford any kind of unrest. Our focus is on freedom movement and development and prosperity of Azad Kashmir and we have evolved a strategy in keeping with these two points to achieve ours goals by taking the opposition along with this,” the PM said.

He maintained that his government respected the mandate of the opposition, which had enabled it to get the budget passed unanimously.

Such efforts would continue, in order to establish peaceful political atmosphere, which is in the best interest of the state, he added.
