Between frames: Skyfall

Published August 2, 2012

Watch out Bond fans, because James is back! And this time it's from the dead.

Having put the mess that was Quantum of Solace behind him, Skyfall is more like the Bond of yore:  Suave, sophisticated, and scintillating.

Here's what we know from the trailer.

M has let slip a disk (or hard drive) that reveals all the names of MI6 agents across the globe. Predictably enough, James has to come back from a faked death to clean up the mess and essentially save the world.

We get a Q sighting and James gets his PP handgun that only works in his hands — a nifty little plot device that will undoubtedly come in handy when James encounters one of his few dozen near death situations.

We also get a compelling look at Javier Bardem as the villain, who again dons an awful haircut for a role and somehow still manages to pull it off.

The rest is usual immaculate Bond fare.  So you might want to get your tuxedo ironed and polish that vintage Aston Martin. A Bond girl is optional, but highly recommended.

And if you're looking for that quintessential Bond moment, look no further than when Bond lands on that train and takes a second to adjust his suit as things explode behind him.

November can't come too soon.
