PESHAWAR, July 23: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Inspector General of Police Mohammad Akbar Khan Hoti has directed high-ups of the department to adopt foolproof security measures for maintenance of law and order and prevention of sabotage acts during the holy month of Ramazan.
He directed all regional police officers and district police officers across the province through a circular to improve intelligence network and establish special checkpoints at all entry and exit points of every city. The circular, issued here on Monday, asked the officials to carry out special checking on those points without causing any embarrassment to the citizens.
The IGP directed police high-ups to take special measures for safety of important installations, personalities, worship places, markets, banks, hospitals, petrol pumps, railway stations, airports and other potential targets of the terrorists.
The police officials were directed to carry out special checking of hotels, inns and guest houses for security purpose. They were told to increase patrolling on all important main roads and highways to make journey safe for commuters and prevent robberies.
The IGP directed the police officials to ban brandishing and displaying of all kinds of arms and weapons and carry out effective security measures after sunset.
He directed them to take stringent security measures for protection of life and honour of people at public places and parks.
The officials were directed to adopt special security measures at all shopping centres, especially for protection of women customers, and deploy policemen in plainclothes besides routine policing to curb purse and cellular phone snatching incidents.
Mr Hoti directed the RPOs to launch well-calculated drive against professional beggars and don’t allow them to gather outside the worship places.
The circular directed the traffic police to ensure smooth flow of traffic, especially during rush hours and Iftar time. The traffic police should break fasting on duty spot, it added.
It asked police high-ups to mobilise public against militants and get their required support against criminals. The SDPOs and SHOs were directed to carry out patrolling during the peak hours and congregation times and ensure maximum and foolproof security to the potential targets of terrorists.
