RAWALPINDI: Mr Manzar-i-Alam in a statement here yesterday announced that steps were being taken immediately to summon an urgent meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League Council and for holding an all-Pakistan convention of the party, which, he claimed, stood revived from yesterday.
Mr Alam who signed his statement as “Secretary, Pakistan Muslim League”, said the date and venue of the council meeting and the convention would be announced as quickly as possible.
He said following the assent by the President to the Political Parties Bill the “Pakistan Muslim League automatically stands revived, subject to restrictions imposed by the said legislation”. He has directed that the East Pakistan Muslim League with all its branches and the West Pakistan Muslim League Organising Committee and all its sub-committees should continue their work in the country.
He said an extraordinary meeting of the West Pakistan Muslim League Organising Committee, including presidents and secretaries of all district and city Muslim Leagues in West Pakistan, would be summoned shortly to shoulder the responsibilities of an interim executive. —Agencies
