RAWALPINDI, June 17: Pakistan Ex-Servicemen Association on Sunday demanded that real estate tycoon Malik Riaz should give detail of persons who have received cash or other benefits from him.
The association said conspiracies were being hatched to malign the reputation of the superior judiciary, adding the latest crisis triggered by the real estate developer had failed to dent the respect of the Supreme Court.
In a press statement, the executive council of the association appreciated the reported statement of US Senator John McCain that the US policies in the region could be a recipe for disaster.
“McCain’s statement was more rationale, pragmatic and conducive to peace than the belligerent outbursts emanating from Pentagon high officials.”
They said America had shifted its emphasis on India while Pakistan had been relegated to a status of non-entity, adding Islamabad needed a reappraisal of its foreign policy.
“We need to develop trade and economic links with China, Russia and Central Asian states, including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan through the Gwadar port,” it added.
