THE PPP was leading a close contest having six votes in the election of chairman of parliamentary committee to elect head of the Election Commission. Against the six votes earned by Syed Khursheed Shah, five votes were received by the candidate Tehmina Doltana. However, one vote was in the waiting to complete the 12- member contest. The last vote belonged to a JUI-F member Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, who for years has been in the opposition and is a great missionary religious leader against the current government, accusing it of corruption. Can one imagine that the last decisive vote by Maulana Haideri was gifted to the PPP group to ensure smooth sailing for the incumbent ruling team?

Now even the religious parties are leaving the helpless common people to suffer.
