TAXILA, May 17: Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) is key institution of the country which is supplying the lifeline arms and ammunition of ordinance to its armed forces beside export of its conventional weapons to different friendly countries to earn foreign exchequer.
This was stated by POF Chief Lt Gen Mohammad Ahsan Mehmood while briefing defence attaches’ and advisers of various embassies based in Islamabad who visited the POF under the leadership of Col Lubos Koudelka, Defence Attaché of Czech Republic on Thursday.
The delegation comprised of attachés and advisers of Australia, Belgium, Bangladesh, China, Czech Republic, France, Iran, Japan, Jordan, Nepal, Philippines, Romania, Russia, South Korea, Sudan, Sweden, South Africa, Thailand, UK, Uzbekistan and the US.
In his welcome address, the POF Chief Lt Gen Mohammad Ahsan told the delegation that POF is the premier defence installation of the country which is not only meeting the defence requirement of the Armed Forces of Pakistan but also exporting its products to friendly countries by utilising its surplus capacity.
In his detailed briefing, Syed Naseem Raza the POF technical adviser told the delegation that ordinance factory has planned to introduce new technologies and latest arms under BMRE plan. According to this plan, agreements with various friendly countries for transfer of technology to the POF have already been inked.
The delegation was also briefed about the steps being taken by the POF administration for the welfare of employees. Later, the delegates visited product display room of the POF and were taken around some selected production units where they witnessed the production process of arms and ammunition. The delegation lauded the standard of the POF products and took keen interest in the newly launched products introduced by the POF.
