QUETTA: A three-member bench of the Supreme Court on Friday adjourned the proceedings of the case on law and order situation in Balochistan and the missing persons' issue for two weeks, DawnNews reported.
Testimonies of the families of at least 28 missing people were recorded in Quetta registry of the Supreme Court.
Criticising Chief Minister Balochistan Aslam Raisani, the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry remarked that the chief minister has no interest in restoring peace in the province. Adding, the apex court will show its report to the governor of the province.
The chief justice said that he will not only give orders but also ensure implementation on them.
He said that the apex court acknowledges the fact that there is pressure on the police but it is unacceptable when people are killed and kidnapped despite patrolling of police and Frontier Corps (FC).
Station House Officer (SHO) Barori, Ameer Muhammad Dasti cried during the court's proceedings and said that in the present circumstances it is better for him to go to the jail rather than going out, as he was receiving death threats.
Earlier the court had directed directed police and the FC on Thursday to produce missing persons the next day and also directed provincial Home Minister Mir Zafarullah Zehri to appear before it on the same day. Otherwise, it warned, a case would be registered against him for having lied about the involvement of some provincial ministers in kidnapping for ransom.
On Wednesday, the chief justice had also ordered the chief minister, home minister and sector in-charge of the ISI to appear before the court, but none of them turned up.
