QUETTA: Provincial minister Nasreen Rehman Khetran resigned from her Balochistan Assembly membership on Monday in protest of MPA Mir Bakhtiar Domki’s wife and daughter’s murder, DawnNews reported.

Khetran, who is the wife of Sardar Abdul Rehman Kethran, belongs to the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q).

Mr Domki’s wife was the sister of Brahmadagh Bugti and the granddaughter of slain Nawab Akbar Bugti.

Proceedings in the provincial assembly were cut short on Friday due to protest by legislators over the killings in Karachi. The legislators had lamented the fact that even their womenfolk were now unsafe. Several members, including Nasreen Khetran, had walked out of the house.

Meanwhile, several members of the Domki clan on Monday staged a rally in Jacobadad in protest of the killings.

According to police,  the demonstrators tried to shut down several shops in the city. However, SSP Zafarullah Dharejo, who reached the spot with a heavy contingent of policemen, stopped the protestors and arrested 15 members of the Domki clan.
