KARACHI: Makhdoom Amin Fahim, Commerce Minister of Pakistan, held a meeting with his Indonesian counterpart in Geneva on Dec 16 on the sidelines of WTO ministerial meeting, and Indonesia has given the date of third week of January for signing of a Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA).

This was stated in an official handout, issued on Thursday in response to a report “exporters seek early FTA with Indonesia.”

According to provisions of the agreement, the PTA shall come into force 30 days after the date of exchange of notifications by both the parties for completion of respective legal procedures, it stated.

Pakistan and Indonesia had concluded negotiations on a bilateral PTA in September 2011, it stated.
